Stay Cool with Georgia Wildlife at Bear Hollow Zoo
Though the weather in Georgia does begin to cool down in September, days can still be quite hot, which makes Bear Hollow Zoo the perfect spot for an afternoon visit. Tucked away beneath a canopy of trees, you and your family can enjoy a leisurely stroll among the various exhibits showcasing local wildlife, including bobcats, bears, deer, owls, alligators, eagles, opossums, and more. The animals housed here have all been rescued from the surrounding area and, unable to survive on their own in the wild, are cared for by zoo staff. On weekend afternoons, visitors can also enter the centrally located Reptile House to see the various reptiles and amphibians native to northeast Georgia, and children can participate in special educational activities, affording them the opportunity to touch some of the animals. Admission to the zoo is free, as is use of the nearby Birchmore Nature Trail.
