Celebrating 20 Years of the International Street Fair
Apr 02, 2018
Springtime weather calls for outside festivals and the Athens community coming together. This month, join us in celebrating 20 years of UGA’s International Street Festival. This popular event is spearheaded by UGA international student organizations and local community groups to provide Athens with an immersive opportunity to explore other cultures. Take in vibrant displays, traditional costumes, dances, and music while collecting “passport” stamps from visiting all of the countries participating—whoever collects all of the stamps has a chance to win a prize! The family-friendly festival features a kid’s corner where kids can try their hand at arts and crafts like creating their own flags, crafting African necklaces, and coloring paper dolls. The International Street Fair welcomes 3,000-5,000 visitors every year, and has become an Athens tradition in appreciating the beautiful, diverse cultures that make our city so great.
